## Worked examples

### Grade 3

Complete the phrase: two … (book).

**Answer:** books

Two refers to more than one object, so use the plural. Add -s to book: two books.

### Grade 7

What is the comparative form of bad in «This result is … than yesterday’s»?

**Answer:** worse

Bad has the irregular comparative form worse. Than signals a comparison between two results.

### Grade 10

Complete: She avoided … (interrupt) her friend.

**Answer:** interrupting

After avoid, the next verb takes the -ing form: avoided interrupting. This is the pattern used with avoid.
